Draconian Occultism
This is a brief introduction to draconian occultism as handed down to me from my second exhusband's family. This was a tradition handed down through generations that I was to learn to raise our children in. Unfortunately we did not stay together and the dragons will not let me out of my oaths to them. So I've been a solitary practitioner without my old clan and lacking in locals who also practice it. I get most of my lessons through interacting with my guides and family within my home plane. I will return to them, therefore I am following their teachings as not to be rusty when I go back. The finer details will be expanded upon in subsequent articles.
Draconian occultism is a ceremonial style tradition in which the only deities worked with are dragons. It is polytheist in that all dragons are individual beings with their own unique traits. We work with the dragon gods of lore as well as dragons we encounter through our travels. The dragons may or may not be gods within their own ranks, but they are deified within the tradition in the regards that they are given honour and respect. We do not worship them, merely honour their power and position over us.
- Overall there is no unified goal among practitioners except self-godhood.
- The tradition is sparse on typical humanity-centric morality. We only have 3 tenants (unless otherwise told by your guides as each breed is different); no fear, no doubt, no guilt.
- There is no karma or sense of galactic justice for actions. This does not exempt you from more personal consequences. If you screw someone over and they go after you for it then you brought it upon yourself. The same goes for miss calling or misusing dragons. Anything bad to happen to you for something you think you've done, is just self-imposed karma, aka if you don't feel guilt about something you've done there is no karma.
- We do not see balance as stagnated harmony nor is it duality based. It is having to work within all aspects and with all shades in between. We strive to balance the 6 basic elements and the 4 energy currents (the karmic/causal: 92-physcial, 23-dream; the akarmic/acausal: 218-draconian current, chaos in it's purest meaning; the necrosophic: 182- death current, the energy that destroys all living things, not the afterlife). By balance, this means we use all at once or in equal amounts. Just as much death work as healing.
- There is no duality concepts outside of human construct. Good and Evil does not exist outside of what makes someone feel good vs feel bad. What makes you feel warm and fuzzy will feel mortally wrong for me. Light and Dark are only concepts, there exists all shades in between and those should be recognized as well.
- We are not all from the same source. There are some of us born of the various energy currents therefore we join that source when we leave this world. Although since everything stems from Tiamat's Womb (aka the Void, 218) it could be said that we are all from the same source, but not all will return when they perish, others will stay with their own kind's source. IE those whose souls are born in the 182 will return to continue their work there upon death here.
- We all have a purpose given to us by our guides. For those of us who are reborn dragons our charge will be to do on a micro scale what our breed does on a macro scale. This is often extremely tiring and detrimental to the human body.
What we are NOT
Dragons are not merely thought-forms archetypal aspects of a singular deity or extensions of ourselves to be bossed around. We are not eclectic nor chaos magic as we stay strictly within the dragon paradigm no matter what technique we are using. For the most part we are not nature based. We are not draconic wicca (conway); that path is a blasphemy of itself violating one half to work the other. And not that it should have to be said, we are not affiliated with gaming.
