Pagan Association Rant
I'm getting annoyed about being associated as pagan anymore. All
this "all pagans believe..." propaganda that's spewed out
even in pagan communities is just giving us all a bad name. If I
didn't know what pagan truly was I would've just been nihilist. We
didn't start out nature worshipers, we don't all worship nature now,
we don't all believe in good over evil, we don't all work for
light/love, we don't all follow the same holidays, we don't all
believe in karma, we don't all follow harm none,
wiccan/witch/pagan/shaman "all the same woman just with
different titles.... um NO, all gods aren't the same one with
different names/aspects, we don't all believe in the same drivel...
hence umbrella term. It's getting to the point where the
market is so supersaturated with this crap that when I say I'm pagan
people shyte themselves when they find out I work with necromancy and
live sacrifices.... "you're not pagan!" ... "The hell
I'm not, I'm not an abrahamic faith so I'm pagan." In mixed
company, esp if people are present who would assume the above, I have
resorted to calling myself Occultist. Least in that sub-category of
paganism there are many who have enlightened past the fluffy
love/light/healing/karma crap and know things for what they are.
Harmonious with nature isn't all love, light, healing and stagnated
peace. Nature is in constant flux of life and death, how can we be in
harmony with it if we're only following one side? We can't, we have
to actively practice all aspects (creation, destruction, death) to
keep that balance. Peace is no more than one of the human concepts
that they claim is a universal truth and they say all of us strive
for.
